The Development Agency of Lemnos S.A. – Development Agency of Local Authorities S.A., was founded in 1992, in the form of a Limited Municipalities’ Cooperative Company, with the object of implementing community programmes.

Since then, the Development Agency of Lemnos S.A. – Development Agency of Local Authorities S.A. is active in the area of rural development.

 
Today, the Development Agency of Lemnos S.A. – Development Agency of Local Authorities S.A. has completed the implementation of the Programmes LEADER I, LEADER II and LEADER + and is currently implementing Axis 4 of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013. Moreover, in cooperation with the Local Development Company of Lesvos (ETAL S.A.), it is implementing Axis 4 of the Operational Programme FISHERIES, and it is participating in partnerships within the framework of the INTERREG Community Initiative and the Integrated Urban Development Plans of Crete’s Regional Operational Programme and Aegean Islands.

The share capital of the agency is ninety thousand (90,000) Euro and divided in 6,000 shares with a nominal value of 15 Euro each. Shareholders who participate in the share capital are Local Authority institutions that represent 80% of the island’s local authorities, as well as all agricultural cooperatives (primary and secondary) of Lemnos.
